SA2110 Power Quality Analyzer complies with international IEC61000-4-30 Class S Standard, which can measure voltage up to 1000 V, current up to 6000 A with configured flexible rogowski coils, harmonic up to 100th, etc. together with some new added functions like Inverter Efficiency, Mains Signaling, it can help engineers quickly troubleshoot the problems in power grid, thus lower the damage risk to the equipments caused by the unstable power supply.

Applications

1. Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis 

This is the most common application. When mysterious problems occur, the Class S analyzer is deployed to find the culprit. 

· Intermittent Equipment Failure: Why did a motor controller fail? Why do production line computers randomly reset? The analyzer can capture voltage sags (dips), swells, transients (spikes), or momentary interruptions that are too fast for the human eye or basic meters to see.

· Unexplained Tripping: Identifying the cause of nuisance tripping of circuit breakers or protective relays by capturing the exact moment of the trip and the power quality event that caused it.

· Flickering Lights: Quantifying voltage flicker (rapid, small changes in voltage) and tracing it back to a specific source, like a large arc furnace or a welding machine starting up. 

2. Compliance with Power Quality Standards (Contractual & Regulatory) 

Many utilities are required by regulators to provide power that meets certain quality standards (e.g., EN 50160 in Europe). Large industrial customers often have contracts specifying acceptable power quality levels. 

· Utility Side: Utilities use Class S analyzers to prove that the power they are delivering meets regulatory limits for harmonics, voltage variations, and flicker.

· Customer Side: Large factories, data centers, and hospitals use them to verify that the power they are receiving is within the contractual agreement. If not, they can use the data as evidence for a claim or rebate. 

3. Energy and Revenue Metering Verification 

Due to their extreme accuracy, Class S analyzers are used to calibrate and verify the accuracy of revenue meters (the meters that calculate your electricity bill). 

· Billing Disputes: If a large consumer suspects their electricity bill is incorrect, a Class S analyzer can be installed to perform a high-accuracy energy audit and verify the readings from the utility's meter.

· Sub-metering Validation: Verifying the accuracy of sub-meters used for billing different tenants or departments within a large facility. 

4. Long-Term Power Quality Surveys (Baseline Studies) 

Before installing sensitive new equipment (e.g., an MRI machine, a semiconductor fabrication tool, or a large data server farm), it's crucial to understand the existing power quality. 

· Pre-Installation Assessment: A survey over several weeks or months establishes a "power quality baseline." This helps in sizing and specifying the correct protective equipment, like UPS systems or voltage regulators.

· Post-Installation Verification: After installation, another survey can confirm that the new equipment is not degrading power quality for other users on the same network (e.g., by generating excessive harmonics). 

5. Assessing the Impact of New Generation and Loads 

· Renewable Integration: Before connecting a large solar farm or wind turbine to the grid, a study is done to ensure it won't cause voltage fluctuations, harmonic distortion, or flicker that violates grid codes. Class S analyzers are used for this pre-connection assessment and ongoing monitoring.

· EV Charging Stations: The start-up of a large, high-power EV charging station can cause significant voltage sags. A Class S analyzer can quantify this impact on the local grid.
